How to prevent a Botnet Attack on WordPress or Malware content on a website

Change your passwords
First, we suggest you change passwords for the Control Panel, your FTP and MySQL users so that this can be prevented. The vast majority of compromised sites were hacked using Password cracks so make your password complex.

Scan your local machine
It may be possible due to some virus on your local systems/network from where you FTP and upload files so update your antivirus/spyware software with the latest updates and make sure your PCs and network are clean.

Clean your uploaded data
First, we suggest you download all site contents at your local end through FTP. Then scan them with any popular antivirus software and then re-upload them back.

Consider deleting everything
A sure way to remove hacks that currently exist, is to delete all the files from your web space, and clear out any suspected data.

Check your code
The virus can also be inserted through the website itself while browsing so make sure there are no security holes in the code and if some readymade software is used for the site then it should be updated with the latest available installers.
